Impact

This year Mr O'neil came  in class and talked to us about impact , after awhile of waiting and listening ,we went a head and went to a farm and listened to the farmer ,they wanted us to make a medican box for them so it can be easier for the farmers ,then Mr O'neil said to make a box out of cardboard and show it to Mr Piri's , He then said to make it smaller so it can be easier for him .


 Mr O'neil said to have a partner so my partner is, Gabby ,so me and her planed first and then made it this is our cardboard box , In about few weeks, we will make a box out of wood,metal ,fabric,and alsorts of things .

1.  Setting the Scene (Outcome development & evaluation)


What is the problem/need/ or opportunity I have identified? Who are the stakeholders?
e.g. We need furniture that suits the learning that we are doing.   The Marama Year 7 & 8 Students are the stakeholders, we need it.


Currently farmers use a flimsy cardboard box to hold their medicines. This can break apart easily which can break the fragile medicine containers if dropped. The farmers also write the notes on the cardboard flap which  can et smudged if wet.
Dairy farmers are our stakeholders because there is nothing available for them at the moment to solve this problem.







How will your design impact on these stakeholders ( people, our community or the environment?)


It will allow farmers to transport their medicine around the cow shed to give to their cows. It will be easier to record their medicine notes. Medicine containers will be less likely to break. It will be washable so the farmer can wash ff all the muck.





What do you need to find out before you can start planning? (Technological Practice)


Interview famers and a vet.

    Today for Impact the Medican organizing box group went down to the metal class in Hauraki plains college and tried to finish our box .This photo is my box i had made in Metal but i haven't finished it ,But hopefully I would finish it next week .

    Does it work ?
    Yes it works ,it fits all the compartments and spays,hopefully when make our own one we will make it like this photo here .In wood before we made a handle .

    What Have You learnt along the way ?
    I have learnt how to use all the machines and how to do some measurements for our box, Mr Chives or teacher help me on the way so that made me confident for every machine so that helped me .

    This is me and my partner's new cardboard mock up we did again .We made another one because we thought our other one was two small so we made another ,then we took it down to the college and showed it to our teacher for tech but he didn't comment .

    Then we finished off doing the inside ,have a look inside.






    Then we finished off our tray and I finished it last week .





    • What I did today ?
      We started off making our net's for our Medicine Organizing box as our group calls it the M.O.B , then we had to show Mr chives our net so that he could cut out some steel and aluminum ,me and Gabby were the second pairs to finish our net but Vorn,Jacob and Hayden was the first people to get there net finished and got there  base cut out .


      What I need to work on ?
      I need to work on knowing what to do
      when I get told to do it .



      Does it work ?
      Yes it does work because it has got good hard material and it does have good grip .


      We Finally started our real box that we have planned all this term for the piri s .Our teacher Mr chives helped us but we did all of it the most .then we cut it out and put ribits in it to hold it all together then planed our compartments and showed it tor Mr chives but we never got it cut out .This is our box we had planned with our mock up .

      Today me and gabby my partner for this years impact is having a great year so far we finally got our comapartments in our box so next week we will be planning our handle hopefully .






      Today we went down to the college and cutted more compartments out we had some problems though ,because we had copied somone elses idea and not used our so we cut the compartment made it into our compartments .



      Today I am hoping to finish all the compartments ,and start to plan our handle's ,I am hoping to get them finished so that we are doing our handles .



      Today we did our compartments and finished them all ,we then started to plan out our handle to see what it would like ,then we went to wood work but we didn't get to start it .
